quiet morning cuddle

A cold front moved in last night. Colin woke up wet and cold around 5.45, very angry. I brought him into bed with me as he was, hoping for the best.

He quietly lay on my belly, head tucked into my neck, arms curled under him, squeezing in as tight as he could, trying to get warm. Little baby bliss.

He woke up slowly, asking for “tisses” and “hug tight?”.

Of course, my joy at the moment was rewarded later with him self-applying half a bottle of expensive sunscreen while I put laundry away.

We got the living room finished, and the morning room is more than halfway done. Some of the chair-rail is cut, the walls are painted, and the trim is primed. I dropped off some prints to be framed and ordered new curtain fabric yesterday afternoon.

I’ve dubbed the color “Century 21 Gold”. It makes the living room seem pale (literally) in comparison. Now we’re onto getting the dining room prepped for next weekend.

busy, busy

Saturday: “sharing” class for mom and jim, mom to the gym, whole family to OT, then onto family party.

Sunday: sleep-in, church, paint the ceiling in the living room, dinner.

We’ve got an aggressive plan to have the breakfast room painted by the end of Memorial Day weekend. That means finishing up the living room first, so I got the whole thing primed (except the floor trim), and a coat of ceiling paint up. Tried out that Glidden paint with the tint, which was cool enough, but I’m not happy with the color, it’s pretty dingy. Although it IS brighter than the paint on the walls and ceilings now.

Trying new things

I’m in the process of moving pictures to a shared web host — we need the space on our other sites, and a free or paid photo hosting site is more cost effective.

Jim has strep throat again, we had a lazy day today, so this is a good project.

I’m also moving forward on the painting. I got a nail (as opposed to the other two screw-) pop patched today, as well as a dent that was in the ceiling. Should be able to prime and maybe paint the ceiling tomorrow. Also got going on removing the caulk on the second part of the stairs. This is a miserable job…

Cautiously optimistic

that today will be a good day. Everything is put on hold or cancelled because Colin has pinkeye (woo hoo?!) So, I can’t take him to the school party today. A good thing, because I am tired of leaving the house, and the house is tired of the messiness.

Colin slept in! And he’s handling the eye drops fairly well.

The only downer was that we planned to go to IKEA to get Colin a toddler bed (7% sale this weekend in Philly), but because Jim wants to play in the balls and Colin can’t, we won’t be going.

Also, pinkeye means no gym for me, except for evenings, at least for the next week, although I’m going to try and get a trip in between Jim’s Social Skills (10.30) and OT (4pm).

We’re liking the vibe of the week now that we moved OT to Saturdays.

Dad is done school!!!!!

Jim brought home the nicest plant yesterday for Mother’s Day, grown from a cutting from a plant that his teacher has been using for years. He’s so sweet about reminding me to water it.

Jim also has (finally!) gotten so that he can do the majority of his homework by himself, now that he can read. He’s picking up subtraction pretty well, and his handwriting improvement is FANTASTIC.

Alright, time to make the donuts (aka, pay the bills).

Oh, and I forgot this little nugget. Yesterday Colin ordered a movie from OnDemand. Not a free movie either. At least it was something worth watching — Bolt. So, we had an impromptu movie night.

And, the other day, he put three pieces into a puzzle while I was looking. There were four pieces left to put in, and I walked away for something, came back and they were there. Totally floored me.

…time out of the house. I was looking forward to trying to get caught up on some more housework, after a very productive Monday. But Colin has had puffy eyes on and off since he got his stitches. I thought he might be having a problem with the bandages or the antibiotic, but he hasn’t had either since Monday. And it seems to be bothering him more.
