You know it’s going to be one of those days

Monday, March 30th, 2009

When you’ve been trying to call the pediatrician’s office for 45 minutes and have got nothing but a busy signal.

When you lose the internet router over the weekend.

When you finally call the cable company about (a) loss of internet, and then decide to ask about the problems with your HD channels, and they say the only thing that will fix it (ha!) is a new DVR box. So, it’s time to watch all those shows you’ve been saving for when the kids aren’t around.

Jim is sick. I think he relapsed with strep throat because he spit out half the medicine in the first few days of taking it last time. I have a sore throat, but it’s getting better. Colin has his two year molars coming in, so you never know when he’s going to go off on a tantrum. Fun times!

EDIT: After an hour, I finally got through, and actually got an appointment. Jim has strep. The nurse said she had been doing strep tests all morning and everyone has it. We stopped at Wegman’s for a double dip of getting popsicles AND getting the script filled (and the bonus of TRAINS! for Colin). My lunch was going to be a Milky Way bar, but Jim chastised me for not eating healthy, so I had a pint of skim milk AND a Milky Way bar.

Tired of it

Jim is back in school today. I’m in bed, still run down or something, maybe it’s the antibiotic, but I just don’t feel right. Although my throat is better. It’s good that Don is taking vacation this week. Even though we’re not getting ANY work done on the house, he has been a great help with the boys, taking the load off me so I can rest.

Colin never picked up the strep, and he was back to himself by Sunday. He’s still wants to cuddle with me on the couch though. But I’m off the couch and into bed, because the couch started bothering my back.

and the winner is Jim, who caught strep throat from me. He’s currently refusing to take his antibiotic, which is making this so much more fun.

me — strep throat for the second time in my life. I actually took real (leftover from having Colin) painkillers last night to make the hurt go away. It didn’t. I have eaten a grand total of four crackers today, and that was just because the doctor gave me motrin and ya can’t take that on an empty stomach. Am trying tea now, before I dry out like a raisin.

The house of sick and puke

What a wonderful weekend — Colin sprouted a fever on Saturday. While he was napping, Jim and I enjoyed the local playground for over an hour. After church, Jim kept complaining he felt like he was going to throw up. We made light of it, since he’s never REALLY thrown up, so how can he know? Well, he knows, because a minute later his lunch was all over the kitchen floor.

They both recovered quickly. Jim was fine by Sunday night, Colin was completely better today, which is good since he had his two-year doctor’s appointment. He weighs 30 pounds and is 35 1/2 inches long. He got one vaccine, so I treated him to a cookie from Wegman’s. He looked like a little goth baby with black lips from the icing that made the spots on the cookie’s ladybug wings.

He hasn’t been napping much since the time change (or from being sick?) Just an hour a day, or less. So today I put him down later and hope that he falls asleep before Jim gets home.

I’m watching “John Adams” and finding it riveting.

Dad is on vacation next week, so we’re picking out paint colors for the rooms we’ll have time to paint. Looks like the family room will be first, since it will take both of us to get the room ready.
