for my new ironing board cover and retro heavyweight iron. I hated the old cover, and then last week I went along and ruined the iron and cover by ironing on the wrong side of a t-shirt transfer. Now my ironing board is all pretty with flowers, and the iron itself rocks.
I now drive a minivan. After literally weeks of going back and forth over what car will replace Don’s Pop-Pop-Mobile, it was decided that I would get one. Then the question, new or used? New would mean not so many options, used would mean used. We’ve done well with used cars before, and Don sent me a lot of CPOs (certified pre-owneds), on which I found several fully loaded off-lease beauties. Including a low mileage dark red one just 7 miles away. I have been fully committed to move away from our trend of black/white/silver cars.
Unfortunately, the red one was a little more banged up than we would like, both inside and out. And I actually found the navigation/backup camera system more than a little distracting. And on the test drive, I found the AWD made the ride a bit SUV-like — stiff and sluggish.
But parked next to Big Red was the Silver Bullet. A silver FWD model still loaded, but no navigation/backup camera. Unfortunately, about 12k more miles too. But the drive pushed opinion over in its favor, and along with the gray leather interior, I felt like I was driving a big girl version of the Avalon.
We still discussed back and forth for quite a bit amongst ourselves about the merits of each, but in the end, the Silver Bullet won out over Big Red. Despite my pledge to avoid black/silver/white cars. But now we have a gently used minivan with all the features of the new ones, for half the price. The only difference that you can tell (besides the odometer) is that the stereo doesn’t have an aux port. But, like the Avalon, it has a cassette deck, so iPod music/XM radio is still possible (woo hoo!).
Blogging from the iPhone, oh yeah
that was the most time-consuming, botched upgrade I’ve done. But it’s 99% all better now.
I started upgrading the site, which for the first time didn’t go smoothly. I’m working on ironing out all the bugs.
All this so I can blog from the iPhone, ya know.
Today I was feeding Colin before his nap, he stopped eating, stood up on my lap like he wanted a cuddle, and then gave my a sweet baby kiss. And then another.
Since he was napping, I had Jim clean up the TV room and then we played Pokemon. I was getting very sleepy, so I let him watch some TV while I napped next to him. Good times.
