he snuck one in right under my nose

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

The past week Colin and I have been suffering through his molars. The upper and lower on his left side have broken through in bits. My part of the suffering is the lack of sleep from his multiple nighttime wakings and need to be comforted.

So color me surprised to find his lower left incisor poking out this morning.

Among many other things this week

I organized some of my yarn, especially pulling out all the sock yarn and giving it a bin of its own. In doing so, I unearthed three nearly complete single socks, an done that was just started. I also realized that I’ve managed to lose/misplace at least one pair of size 0 needles, which is my go-to size.

So now if you count the two socks I started in February, I have six unfinished pairs. But I only have the needles to have two socks going at the same time.

Changing gears

We got the Honda back Friday afternoon — they couldn’t recreate the problem, although they found something from the check engine indicator, and replaced a relay in the drive system.

Saturday we went looking at used minivans. There was a nice ‘04 Quest, but it turns out to have had an iffy transmission — it was great on the inside, etc., but didn’t seem right on the test drive. I drove another that was a year newer, but the same miles, same engine type, and I knew right away that we wouldn’t be getting the ‘04 (the ‘05 was loaded and out of our price range).

We went and drove a Grand Caravan too, an ‘07. It drove great, but was smaller inside and had a really outdated interior.

Now we’re thinking of just getting another sedan, and waiting a year or two to see how bad we “need” the minivan.

In the meantime, I’m driving the Civic.

On Sunday I was going through my yarn, and I separated out all the sock yarn, among other things. And I discovered three unfinished socks. They all fit, so I don’t know what’s up with that. But I’m planning to finish them now.

Colin has two molars coming in, so that has shot any chance I’ve had about getting a full or nearly full night’s sleep in the near future.

Not a pretty sight.

Watching your new (ok, one-year-old) car being towed away on a flatbed. The Honda has something wrong with that is making it undriveable. Dad said it just wouldn’t go. He got it out on the street and then back in the driveway, and there’s an error on the dashboard relating to the VSA (vehicle stability assist). Of course, we then come to find that Honda doesn’t provide roadside assistance unless you have purchased their extended warranty coverage, so we had to find a tow truck. It’s lucky that we have a good friend who is a “local” and an invaluable resource at times like this.

The blog and photo album have been moved over to the new site. Let me know if you see anything weird, but on first glance, everything looks cool.

Take note of the new address — www.pigsandsheep.com because the old address will be going away in a couple of weeks.

all’s quiet

except for jim coughing. He’s still got the cough, although he’s dropped the fever. So it’s another couple days on the couch watching tv.

On the Colin front, he stacked blocks yesterday.

After this post, things may be quiet for a while, as I try and move this site over to the new webhost.
