Night One of sleep training

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Done, for now. Little guy held out for about 50 minutes, twice as long as Jim.

His sleep habits were getting worse and worse, and he wasn’t sleeping more than two hours at a time. On top of that, I haven’t been napping, so my middle-of-night tolerance was waning fast.

UPDATE: Colin slept until about 3.30a, and was then back up at 5.30 and 6.30. I got him back to sleep in bed with me, and then put him back in his crib, where he’s still sleeping.

And something I forgot, is that Jim is sick, I took him to the doctor’s yesterday. He officially has asthma, and has new medication and an appointment with a pumonary doctor.

Love… exciting and new

Colin has his first lovey, “cow-raffe” (is it a cow, is it a giraffe?). He smiles when he sees it, and likes to chew on it and cuddle it.

He’s hit a couple milestones in the past week. He started with “flapping his wings” (waving his arms and legs around, when his on his back), and he can also grab things at his midline. Most recently (Sunday), he started blowing raspberries. He can “stand” when you hold him up, and you can pull him up to a sitting position, which he really loves.

Sleep is still a challenge, but we’re making progress on getting him used to napping in the crib and falling asleep on his own.

Oh, and today, he learned how grab my hair and pull real hard.

He’s also growing like a weed, and has outgrown about half of his six month sleepers. Other 6 month stuff fits, as long it doesn’t have feet…

I thought he had outgrown his brown and white hat, because he seemed to wiggle right out of it, but yesterday he wiggled out of the bigger yellow hat that he was wearing, so maybe he’s just a hat wiggler.

He really is a joy.

There’s new photos in the January, March and April albums.

Rainy day activities

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

include cleaning up and posting all the photos I’ve taken in the last week. Colin is getting so big, so fast, that I’m trying to capture some of the little bit of little-babyness he has left.

Such as:

Colin in his best baby hat, the one I took to the hospital for him. He’s almost outgrown it now.

and…

The last bit of Colin’s baby mohawk. His newborn hair is falling out quickly now, so I don’t know how much longer this will last.

And then, the annual Opening Day photo:

The brother’s first opening day together (and Jim’s FIFTH!)

Finally, Jim on his school Easter egg hunt:
