Colin Bo Bolin

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Today you are six weeks old. You like your bouncy seat and your swing, especially the bears on the swing (have to get a picture of that). You still like sleeping with Momma best, but we’re starting to get you to sleep on your own in small bits. You still haven’t hit that four hour sleep at night yet, although you have during the day, in the car seat most times.

You’re still a gassy little guy who needs to burp after eating, and sometimes during, but you don’t like to burp at night. You like being undressed, but don’t like getting the onesie put on or off, because of the part when it covers your face.

And you have grown in the past week! You are a chubby lump now, very thick around the middle. It takes longer to dress you, because I’m always finding clothes that you’ve outgrown.

Best of all, you’ve found your smile. We have to get a picture of that too.

From a few days ago… Bouncy seat bliss boy.

One month

Monday, February 12th, 2007

As I’m sure many second-time around parents have experienced, Colin turned one month yesterday, and we barely acknowledged it. In fact, Dad remembered, after dinner and after Jim was in bed.

While at first Colin seemed to be as easy as his big brother was, in the last few weeks we’ve found that he’s a bit needier. He is happiest being held in someone’s arm or lap. We can get away with a couple hours in the bouncer seat, just in the past few days. And he actually slept in the cradle yesterday morning, long enough for me to have a shower. So maybe things are getting better. He won’t sleep for any long period at night unless in our bed or in our arms. But Saturday night I got a long stretch of sleep out of him — three and three quarters hours (yes, I’ll count those quarter hours). But last night he was back to just one hour stretches. But so of the blame lies on me, for the more tired I am, the less effort I put in trying to keep him awake and eating.

I took this picture Saturday night. We spent the evening at Nana’s 87th birthday party. Our only job was to pass Colin around to the aunts and uncles. We all had a great time. It was the first time Jim was at a party where he was on his own, and we just had to check on him once in a while. He had a blast, playing on the piano, and with his cousins.

An angel when he’s sleeping

Jim has taken to “reading” in bed, and falls asleep with the light on.

Things about Colin

Friday, February 2nd, 2007
  • He has hair on his ears and shoulders (litte troll)
  • He is somewhat of a night owl, waking up at 7 or 8, and then staying up until 11 or midnight.
  • He is a bit colicky, but it seems to be every other night.
  • He has the same gas problems that Jim had.
  • He really likes laying on his side.

He’s laying in my arm sleeping, and I wish I could get a picture of his little face.
